The main drawback on the FP-30 is that it doesn't have a mod wheel, pitch bend or assignable pots. I find that easier than adjusting volume, and it lets me keep a consistent volume for piano practice when I switch back. Oh and a little tip: the built-in sound is deactivated when you plug in headphones so I just plug in a stereo cable to nowhere when I want to use it as a controller. For hardware you'll need a USB/MIDI host (Kenton has a good one) to convert the USB signal to real MIDI. The FP-30 will work fine as a controller if you're going straight to a computer via USB. Some might prefer the slightly heavier action, but I prefer the FP-30. The A-88 still has amazing, piano-like feel, but is somehow a bit clunkier. In my opinion the FP-30 is nicer to play. I've also played a friend's A-88 a few times. I use it as a digital piano and to control a desktop synth. Been reading these forums for ages and finally joined because I might have something to contribute for once. ![]() Headphones Size & Weight Dimensions Detached music rest:įP-30X with KSC-70 and music rest and dedicated stand:ĥ1-3/16 (W) x 13-9/16 (D) x 36-11/16 (H) inches Weight 14.8 kg, 32 lbs 11 oz (FP-30X with music rest)Ģ3.Hey everyone.
